GP: Dr W H McManus
Dr W H McManus is a female salaried GP who has worked at Albert Road Surgery since 1989. Her specialist interests include Child Health and Family Planning. Dr McManus has continued to run a weekly baby clinic seeing poorly babies as well as carrying out health and postnatal checks.
GP: Dr T Mohammed
Dr T Mohammed previously held a salaried GP role in Durham and has been working for our practice on a locum basis for over a year. He is currently working at our practice every Tuesday. He has a keen interest in IT and developing our systems to provide better support for the practice and our patients.
Nurse Practitioner: Joanne Tynan
Joanne joined the team in March 2021 and has worked for the NHS for over 30 years. She joins us with a wealth of experience and knowledge gained from working in other GP practice’s and also in the community. Joanne can assess, diagnose, prescribe, request diagnostic tests and refer patients for further treatment.
Practice Nurse: Linda Murray
Linda has been with Albert Road Surgery since December 1989 in the role of practice nurse. Linda looks after patients with long term conditions, organises and leads the childhood immunisation clinics, cervical screening lead and much more. Linda also runs telephone triage clinics daily.
Healthcare Assistant: Kim Johnson
Kim joined the practice in September 2014 as Healthcare Assistant following many years as a Nurse in secondary care. Kim supports Linda with monitoring patients who have long term conditions as well as administering Influenza, Pneumonia, B12 & Shingles vaccinations. Kim takes bloods and dips urine but does not see patients under the age of 18. Kim also carries out NHS Health Checks and registration checks for new patients.
Practice Manager: Lorraine Bell
Lorraine has been with the practice since 1996 and has recently taken over as Practice Manager. The Practice Manager oversees the running of the practice and ensures that all staff are working safely, efficiently and effectively to current National and local guidelines. The practice manager is also responsible for the solvency of the practice and all business management.
Deputy Practice Manager: Lauren Hill
Lauren joined the practice in June 2020 and has recently taken on the role as Deputy Practice Manager. She has worked in the NHS and Primary Care since 2008.
Secretarial Team: Dionne Casey and Shannon Delaney
Dionne and Shannon have worked at the practice for many years as part of the reception team. They are now flourishing in their new role as Medical Secretaries. They look after the administration requirements in the practice, NHS work, Private work, supporting the admin and clinical teams and ensuring patients’ records are accurate and up to date.
Our reception team are highly skilled and are the first point of contact for all of our patients and attached staff. They will assist with appointment bookings and queries, general enquiries, prescription requests, signposting to relevant clinicians and services, and much more. They are:
