GP: Dr Z Ramzi
Dr Ramzi joined the team on 1st May 2021 as a salaried GP and is the practice Clinical Lead. He holds clinics Monday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday. He has been a GP since 2012, has held salaried and GP partner positions in other practices and has a keen interest in MSK and dermatology. Dr Ramzi is working with Sunderland University to support the next generation of Doctors through their training, providing placements for Medical Students at Albert Road Surgery, running Student Clinics, teaching them and helping develop their skills.
GP: Dr W H McManus
Dr W H McManus is a female salaried GP who has worked at Albert Road Surgery since 1989. Her specialist interests include Child Health and Family Planning. Dr McManus has continued to run a weekly baby clinic seeing poorly babies as well as carrying out health and postnatal checks. She holds clinics on a Tuesday and Wednesday.
Nurse Practitioner: Joanne Tynan
Joanne joined the team in March 2021 and has worked for the NHS for over 30 years. She joins us with a wealth of experience and knowledge gained from working in other GP practice’s and also in the community. Joanne can assess, diagnose, prescribe, request diagnostic tests and refer patients for further treatment.
Practice Nurse: Linda Murray
Linda has been with Albert Road Surgery since December 1989 in the role of Practice Nurse. Her role involves supporting and helping patients to manage their long term conditions, she organises and leads the Childhood Immunisation clinics, is Cervical Screening lead, Infection Prevention Lead, runs our travel clinics and so much more.
Nurse Associate: Deborah Parker
Deborah joined the surgery in April 2023. She began her career over 20 years ago, working in the NHS as a Healthcare Assistant. Over the last few years, Deborah has trained and qualified as a Nurse Associate, gained valuable skills and knowledge in long term conditions, assisting minor surgery clinics, smoking cessation, and much more. Over the next 12 months, Deborah will be working closely with Linda, shadowing some of her clinics and completing specialised training to progress further in her role.
Healthcare Assistant: Sophie Stewart
Sophie joined the practice in August 2021 as Healthcare Assistant. She has been a Healthcare Assistant for a number of years and has recently joined us from A&E. Sophie supports Linda with monitoring patients who have long term conditions as well as administering Influenza, Pneumonia, B12 & Shingles vaccinations, takes bloods, dips urine and also carries out NHS Health Checks and registration checks for new patients. Sophie looks after our housebound patients with Chronic Diseases and visits housebound patients to carry out their annual reviews.
Practice Manager: Lorraine Bell
Lorraine has been with the practice since 1996 and became Practice Manager in April 2020. The Practice Manager oversees the running of the practice and ensures that all staff are working safely, efficiently and effectively to current National and local guidelines. The practice manager is also responsible for the solvency of the practice and all business management.
Assistant Practice Manager: Dionne Casey
Dionne is due to join the Practice on 31st July 2023 and will assist Lorraine in the day to day running of the practice.
Secretarial Team: Sian and Shannon
Sian and Shannon have worked at the practice for many years as part of the reception team and are now flourishing as Medical Secretaries. They look after the administration requirements in the practice, NHS work, Private work, supporting the admin and clinical teams and ensuring patients’ records are accurate and up to date.
Our Reception Team is highly skilled and are the first point of contact for all of our patients and attached staff. The team signpost to relevant clinicians and services, assist with appointment bookings and queries, general enquiries, prescription requests, and much, much more. They are:
